This time, it’s about purchase intention: we asked the average Dutchman and Fleming, and our Tweakers community, if they plan to buy a new TV in the next 12 months.

 

Younger target groups want new TV

According to our results, the purchase intention is highest in the younger age groups. The 18-24 age group is the one with the most interest. Purchase intention drops significantly from the age of 45 onwards. This was also evident from earlier findings in our survey: young people are quicker to change their sets, partly to keep up with the latest trends.

 

 

Search online or in-store?

The way consumers consider their new purchase still differs greatly between the two countries. Flemish people indicate that they still mainly look at something physically, while Dutch people mainly use online tools such as online providers, comparison websites and the websites of the television brands themselves.

 

Our figures show that young people also like to go into shops. 18 to 35-year-olds find the physical shop an important guide when they are looking for a new television. We do see a strong increase in the use of social media and YouTube as a source of information among young people.
